The RAGNARÖK a high gain preamp in an enclosure to be placed in front of any single channel tube amp, effectively making that amp a two channel amp.
This pedal is completely unlike the vast majority of "tube overdrive" pedals on the market which run plate voltages at a fraction of their operating voltage.
The RAGNARÖK uses wall voltage into a robust transformer which supplies both 6.3v AC to the filaments and over 200v DC to the plates of two 12AX7 preamp tubes.
Using a JAMES/BAXANDALL EQ (based off of the ODIN EQ) with an added treble cap switch and unique inductive midrange control designed by Blackhawk Amplifiers a massive range of tones are possible. Tight, articulate and saturated.
This tone stack, rather than scooping out all of the midrange resulting in the thin sound one would associate with placing a tube preamp in front of another, the RAGNARÖK truly brings on the doom of the gods.
The six way midrange frequency selection switch (similar to the FAC switch on the vintage OR120) AND a midrange/gain/volume boost switch. This switch disconnects the midrange control completely and allows for leads to cut through the mix without additional pedals.
Note: when running into the front end of an amp, make sure that it is clean-clean (no drive or breakup) and be sure to check that your amp does not have a bright cap as this will kill all the low end going into the amp.
