The improved V3 VALKNUT BANDPASS FILTER DISTORTION

Do you love the sound of a fixed wah but don’t want to give up all that pedalboard real estate to a wah pedal?
Would it be nice if you were able to then overdrive your amp into total saturation?
Are you compelled to play “electric funeral” every time you pick up a guitar?
Then you need the VALKNUT BANDPASS FILTER DISTORTION.
Fully opamp driven with a JFET input buffer, it will fit perfectly anywhere in your chain (unlike many wah pedals which can have impedance compatibility issues)

The previous versions of the VALKNUT used the term “parametric” because most guitarists don’t have a lot of experience with variable bandpass filters and are more familiar/comfortable with the term parametric.

A bandpass filters highs and lows only letting a midrange through, which in the case of the valknut is both frequency and bandwidth adjustable (where as a wah just adjusts the frequency)

A parametric EQ is the same thing only bipolar (meaning it cuts as well as boosts) the VALKNUT is in fact, a bandpass filter meaning it boosts only. And boost it does! The V3 version adds an additional gain stage boosting the circuit for even more available dirt.

I've also added a proper expression/CV circuit using a Vactrol to adjust the frequency control.
A Vactrol is a combination of a Light Emitting Diode and a Light Dependent Resistor.
The expression varies between 0v and 5v and adjusts the resistance of the frequency pot.

With and expression pedal plugged in, the frequency knob sets the highest frequency the expression will go. For full range, turn the knob all the way up.

The MOOG EP-3 is still my preferred expression pedal simply for its affordability and wide sweep range but it's now compatible with any expression pedal as well as CV for all you fellow synth players out there.
The adjustable dial on the side is excellent for setting the range. Be sure to set to "standard" mode.

DESIGNERS NOTE:
The VALKNUT along with the OUROBOROS are the only pedals absolutely required on a pedalboard for me when using amp gain. It's my secret weapon that I'm offering to the world.
